Luke and Jack (HELP names Loki and Zeus)
Programs and Information
Age: 10 months Breed: Brittany Spaniel/Golden Retriever mix
Jack and Luke are our Brittany Spaniel/Golden Retriever
mix puppies that we adopted from H.E.L.P. in September,
2005. They are brothers, born in March 2005, and
abandoned in Southern Illinois to fend for themselves.
Somehow, they stayed together and were rescued.
A H.E.L.P. foster family cared for them for 6 weeks, and
learned that these boys needed each other and could not
be separated. Several adoptive families called to take
one or the other, but H.E.L.P. was adamant that they stay
together. Our family gladly took both puppies, and we
are amazed by the bond between these two sweet dogs.
Truly, it is a tribute to H.E.L.P.’s service that their
foster family was so in tuned to their needs. They spend
every minute together, sleeping intertwined, playing all
day, and yelping hysterically if you try to separate them
for training or walks. We are blessed that they amuse
each other so completely; it makes our work easy. And they
were so wonderfully acclimated to family life that they
immediately blended in to our family of 3 young girls and
our cat. As they near their first birthday, they enjoy
their daily run in the enclosed football field, playing
with local puppy friends, hours of chewing on rawhides,
and cuddling with our girls on the couch. They are
fabulous and we are completely in love with them!
