Shortly after getting Cleo, we received the May 2000 H.E.L.P. Newsletter. The "poster-child" for the month was a black and white male named Quincy. He was 2 1/2 at the time with a long and not so happy story including a couple of failed adoptions and some health concerns. We visited him at his foster home and decided to adopt him, too. It took what seemed like forever for him to really feel at home. He would look at us like he wanted attention but was reluctant to sit on a lap or be on the couch or bed. One day, he jumped on my lap when I was sitting at the desk. He settled in, began purring and we've been buddies ever since. Today, he's our door greeter - anytime there is knock at the door, he's right there to see what's happening. Quincy begins meowing as soon as he sees one of our friends in particular and follows her everywhere around the house. She has a similar appearance as Quincy's foster mom (Sue). Sue cared for Quincy when he was a sick kitten and nursed him back to health. We believe Quincy thinks our friend is Sue. Everyone says he's the most handsome cat they've ever seen. Who are we to argue?
We live in Dallas, Texas now. Both Quincy and Cleo are healthy, doing well and are joined by two cats we rescued here in Texas. Thank you HELP, we don't know what we would do without them.
